studioStockdale primarily works with form and sculpture for private commissions, public art and commercial applications.

Working from a studio/workshop in Albany in the South West and in Perth city Western Australia, studioStockdale provides services from Concept and Design to Fabrication and Installation.

Director and Sculptor David Stockdale trained in the Visual Arts and Sculpture in the UK. David has an extensive background and ongoing interests in the building industry still being a HIA member and Greensmart Professional.

David says..."nature and personal growth have inspired me throughout my life. Now in my studio I explore creatively themes concerned with the spiritual archetypal foundations of the human being and nature. I work particularly with relationships, the movement qualities in form, stages in growth processes and metamorphic processes of development. I focus on the essence of how people and groups relate to each other, space, the environment they are in, influences of time, geology, culture, history, biography and how these change and interrelate to each other. I enjoy working with people and groups in the process of conceptualization and/or art making. I personally sculpt in stone, wood, metal, clay and other mediums appropriate to the subject and process creating beautifully crafted indoor pieces to monument sized public art.
In commissioned private and public work I blend my creative understandings with 'needs' of the assigned project, space, concept, geography and uses. This allows for a freeing from artistic style and medium giving sensitivity, balance and truth to the final sculptural expression and installation."
